A versatile venue: Messe Wien as medical care facility

In the past few weeks there has been a constant flow of media reporting on venues being repurposed as Corona virus care facilities. Messe Wien was the first such venue outside China to take this step. In just three days, expo hall A was completely re-equipped to serve as an 25-bed medical care facility for patients with milder cases of COVID-19. In the subsequent weeks halls C and D were also repurposed. Currently, around 300 beds are being occupied by patients with milder COVID-19 infections.

Martin Kreidl, Head of Technical Event Management, played a major role in guaranteeing speedy implementation. His technical know-how, general expertise and hands-on devotion enabled all requisite planning to be compiled, and to be realised in cooperation with associated suppliers and services providers – in just a matter of days.

Such efforts have inspired Reed Exhibitions to call the people into the spotlight whose major contributions to overcoming this crisis might otherwise have gone unnoticed – our ‘Reed Heroes’.
